　提到托福考试词汇，很多高中生头疼不已。每天在紧张的学校学习之外拼了命的背诵，结果第二天背熟的单词也已经，最重要的是记住的单词也做不对，为什么会这样？心好累。。。因为你不知道有玄机。

今天带大家认清托福词汇“真面目”。

一、面如桃花心似刀（词根词缀）

 Paragraph 5: They seemed to be using the Sun as a compass to determine direction. At the time, this idea seemed preposterous. How could a bird navigate by the Sun when some of us lose our way with road maps? Obviously, more testing was in order.

分 析：本道题目的单词对于大多数同学都是陌生的，根据常规思维，学生容易根据前缀“pre”去推测该单词会有往前的意思，但其实在该单词里却失去了常见词根 词缀的意思，表示”荒谬的；难以置信的”，因此正确答案为跟向前毫无关联的A选项。记住词根词缀只是包括大多数单词，也有例外哦。

二、上下关联容易错（上下文推测）

Paragraph 5: In all but the remotest regions of the empire, Roman pottery of a high standard is common at the sites of humble villages and isolated farmsteads.

分 析：该单词对于学生来讲，难度系数不如上题高。有不少同学认识humble，知道其常用义为“谦虚”，也注意到只有D选项是谦虚的意思。但是带入原文会发 现修饰对象为villiages，觉得修饰不通，根据上下文推测应与isolated并列同义，因此会误选A或者B选项。这样就中了ETS的圈套了，因为 humble及modest还有“中小型”的意思。

三、玫瑰月季分不清（意思过于接近，同义词）

Paragraph 2: The source of Roman obsession with unity and cohesion may well have lain in the pattern of Rome’s early development. Whereas Greece had grown from scores of scattered cities, Rome grew from one single organism.

分 析：绝大多数同学对于该单词并不陌生，不就是“着迷”呗，答案就是C呗。同学，等等，问题没你想的那么简单。C选项表示“感兴趣”，与“着迷”意思一样 么？还不懂是吧？比如，你对于自拍很感兴趣能等同于你对于自拍难以自拔么，显然不是一个段位。一个还在窥探，一个已经难以自拔。重新浏览选项，A：考 虑；B：专注；C：对。。。。。。的态度。答案就不言而喻了。因此千万不能粗心，尤其对于意思非常接近的选项。此外，要保证选项全部要浏览。
